In celebration of its nearly 50-year relationship with Grammy Award-winning Latin rock icon Carlos Santana, Latin Percussion (LP) has added a new series of eye-catching bongos, congas and a timbale bell to its Aspire line of percussion instruments. The new instruments feature the memorable “Santana Lion” artwork from the band’s 1969 self-titled debut album.
The 28” tall LP Aspire Santana Lion wood conga sets are constructed from Siam Oak staves and finished with piano black lacquer with Lion graphic. The drums also come standard with EZ Curve rims, 9/32” tuning lugs with LP’s famous V side plate. Available in 10” and 11” diameters, the set includes a sturdy, adjustable LP Aspire double conga stand. A 12” matching drum is also available.
6-3/4″ and 8” Santana Lion wood bongos feature the same Siam Oak construction, EZ Curve rims, 9/32″ diameter tuning lugs and Cuban-style steel bottom rings. Based on LP’s legendary LP205 Timbale Bell, the 8” bell features a wide mouth that produces a low pitch and dry sound while the forged eyebolt fits on any 3/8” diameter mounting rod. LP’s proprietary process, that embeds the graphics into the metal surface, promises durability and sonic consistency.
“I’m honoured to share these incredible LP percussion instruments that celebrate the iconic Santana Lion head artwork first introduced on the original Santana album in 1969,” said Carlos Santana. “LP instruments represent quality & integrity. Together, we have the power to motivate people to shed their skin to create and celebrate life together. Like the music of Santana, this percussion line is designed to inspire artists to soar, create, play and share their hearts music with the world.”
Latin Percussion has been working closely with Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame inductees Santana for close to 50 years and previous Santana Abraxas models have become valued collector’s items. Nine-time Grammy Award-winning Latin rock band Santana has sold more than 90 million records world-wide and has influenced artists and audiences for nearly half a century. Current Santana percussionists Karl Perazzo and Paoli Mejías play LP instruments exclusively on tour and in the studio.
