Sonor Steve Smith 40th Anniversary snare drum

Just 77 Steve Smith 40th Anniversary Limited Edition Snare Drums will be issued. Each limited edition drum will come with a semi gloss Mountain Burl veneer on the inside and outside of the shell. Sonor has been working with Steve Smith for the last 40 years. In 1977, a young Steve Smith – by that time touring with Jean-Luc Ponty – was on the search for his first high quality drum set. He happened to fall in love with a Sonor kit on display at a local shop in Boston, Massachusetts. Since then, Sonor has remained Steve’s choice for professional drums with Journey, Steps Ahead, Vital Information, and others.

“Sonor drums have remained my first and only choice as a high quality instrument for the past 40 years. My sound is the “Sonor Sound”. I can’t imagine playing any other drum set”, said Smith. “My Sonor 40th Anniversary snare drum is a Dream Drum! The sound is warm and rich with a beefy low-end plus pin-point precision in the high-end. The magical combination of the vintage beech shell, mountain burl veneer inside and out, 8 “bowtie” lugs and vintage hoops come together to create the perfect wood snare drum!”
