Picking up the sticks at the ripe old age of 2, Chris Coleman’s early years were dominated by the gospel leanings of his Father and Uncles who performed together in gospel ensembles. Determined to make it as a drummer, he practised relentlessly, earning himself numerous accolades and awards during his Junior High School years.
At the age of 14 Chris began traveling throughout the country with several gospel groups including Marvin Winans, Edwin Hawkins, and Vanessa Bell Armstrong – as well as performing with five jazz/variety/show bands.
Fast forward to 2007, which saw Chris touring full-time with Chaka Kahn as well as Rachelle Ferrell. Following this Chris made appearances at Modern Drummer Festival and PASIC to much acclaim.
Chris will be appearing at 11.15am on the Main Stage (advance main stage tickets available here*) on Saturday and will appear in the Education Zone at 4pm on Sunday, in association with Meinl and Evans.
