Drummer Mick Fleetwood Taken Ill During Concert

Pop band Fleetwood Mac have had to cut a concert short in Nebraska by about an hour after drummer Mick Fleetwood suddenly became ill duing the set. Stevie Nicks told the crowd of about 14,000 at Lincoln’s Pinnacle Bank Arena that Fleetwood, 67, was sick backstage before the end of the 90-minute show.

A drum technician played Go Your Own Way for Fleetwood, then Christine McVie played the piano and sang Songbird with guitarist Lindsey Buckingham before the band ended the show. Fleetwood Mac said they planned to perform their next scheduled show in Grand Rapids, Michigan, tomorrow. The band recently announced a second Dublin date as part of their On With the Show Tour.

They will play the 3Arena on June 20 next year, with Christine McVie returning to the band after a 16 year absence, and the second date will Friday July 10th.  During Fleetwood Mac’s 2013 tour, the four members happily welcomed Christine back on the stage during their show at London’s O2 Arena, where she performed their classic “Don’t Stop” and received a wild ovation from the crowd. “It was so comfortable being back onstage with them as if no time had passed, and then we all started talking and it feels like the time is right. I’m really happy,” she commented.

“As far as we’re concerned, she’s never really left. We are overjoyed to have Christine back on stage with us,” said the other members of Fleetwood Mac in a joint statement. The band are following up their record sell out tour of 2013 with 70 shows across the US this year before they kick of the European leg on May 27 at The O2, London.

They’ll then hit Amsterdam, Cologne, Antwerp, Birmingham, Manchester, Glasgow and Dublin before finishing up in Leeds on 30th June.
