Drummer Ringo Starr to Have New Book Printed

One of the world’s most famous musicians is having his latest book printed by an independent business in Stapleford.

Ringo Starr has asked AGC Print Solutions Ltd to print and distribute his photographic memoir which includes rare and unseen images taken by the Beatles drummer.

The company, based in Bessell Lane, was awarded the contract last week 24/4 and has also previously done work for Eric Clapton and Yoko Ono.

Sales director Alan Colley said: “We are delighted to have been awarded such high-profile contracts.

“Most people are shocked to hear that we deal with Ringo Starr and Eric Clapton.

“We have recently asked to produce a promotional postcard for Yoko Ono and John Lennon products, which is just another feather in our cap.

“Every job we print is to a high standard but by the nature of this high profile client we make sure it is right.

“We are not really fazed by printing for famous people but it is nice for us.

“We also work for high street names but it is a bit more personal when you are doing something for a musician or someone like that.”

The new book, called Photograph by Ringo Starr, will be distributed internationally and will be hand-bound to showcase both the content, and the creative talents of the company.

Accounting apprentice Holly Bennett, 16, of Long Eaton, said: “We must be exquisite printers to be chosen, especially outside London.

“I think it is very unusual for a printers to be dealing with such high profile celebrities but we have the tools for the job.

“I feel lucky to be working and involved with a company that has such famous clients.

“Everything here is run at a high standard which fits in well with all our customers.”

The company previously printed Ringo Starr’s autobiography and have been working with his publicist for ten years.

They were also responsible for printing Eric Clapton’s limited edition book Six-String Stories.

Stapleford councillor John McGrath believes the new contract is a testament to the town.

The Stapleford South West Ward representative said: “This is truly great news for one of our businesses.

“It just proves that if you keep at it and work hard and produce a high quality product it does pay off.

“We have a lot of local people working in local businesses and this proves that any one of them could secure big contracts.”
