Showaddywaddy Drummer’s New Band Performing For Charity

The drummer of Rock n’ roll legends Showaddywaddy – Malcolm Allured will be performing in Loughborough with his new band The Hot Motorcycle Club.

The night, which takes place on Saturday, March 8, will be in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. It will take place at The Carillon Rooms, Ashby Square, Loughborough, at 7pm.

Support will come from local band The Dangerous Dogs and solo artist Eddie Hall.

Shaun East, organiser of the event, told the Echo: “Born in Leicester in 1945 Malcolm got his first drum kit aged 10 at the very dawn of a new music style that was to become Rock n’ Roll.

“His love of music and theatre led him to a job as cloakroom boy three years later at the Trocadera Ballroom where he began learning his trade including his dancing and choreography skills.

“He was one of the founding members of Showaddywaddy and also co-wrote most of the hit singles and played in most songs.

“With long time cohort Buddy Gask he formed the original Golden Hammers in 1964 touring Europe and the now infamous venues on the Reeperbahn Hamburg like other luminaries of the era such as the Beatles.

“Then followed a true Rock n Roll apprenticeship with many bands until reforming the Golden Hammers in 1973 and fatefully joining forces with Leicester’s The Choice to become the supergroup Showaddywaddy.

“During this halcyon period The Duke was writer, producer and/or drummer on no less than 23 hit records, he has eight top fives to his credit and with the timeless classic Under the Moon of Love making number one in eight countries has amassed a staggering 20m record sales worldwide. This is going to be a great night and tickets will sell out fast.”
