Stanton Moore “Spirit Of New Orleans Drum Camp” Announces December 15th Soul Rebels Concert & Second Line Drumming Experience

First-Ever SONO Camp Presented by Muso Entertainment December 13th – 15th at The Historic Old U.S. Mint Features Three Days of Hands-On Drumming Plus Additional Performances from The Stanton Moore Piano Trio and Dragon Smoke

Grammy™ award-winning drumming superstar, author, and instructional DVD creator Stanton Moore’s (Galactic) first-ever “Spirit of New Orleans” (SONO) Drum Camp, December 13th – 15th will feature world-renowned, New Orleans 8-piece brass band Soul Rebels in an afternoon clinic segment where students will get to sit in on snare drum and bass drum and participate in a once-in-a-lifetime second line drumming experience with the band. In addition, the finale of the 3-day camp will be a Soul Rebels concert on Sunday, December 15th at 8:00 PM at The Old U.S. Mint. Tickets for the SONO finale concert with the Soul Rebels featuring guest performances from Stanton Moore and select SONO students on drum set are available to the public at www.muso-mart.com

With the 2012 release of their debut album, Unlock Your Mind, the Soul Rebels immediately charted in the Top 10 on CMJ’s Hip Hop, Triple A, Jazz and “Most Added” charts. The Soul Rebels have: toured with Galactic; performed at Brad Pitt’s “Make it Right” gala alongside Kanye West and Snoop Dogg; played the main stage at WOMAD UK; performed to sold-out audiences at the Brooklyn Bowl, Perth International, and the Java Jazz Festival in Indonesia — and were also selected by Metallica to open all four of their 30th Anniversary shows at the Fillmore West.

Presented by MUSO Entertainment, this exclusive three-day music camp hosted at the historic Old U.S. Mint in the heart of New Orleans’ legendary French Quarter celebrates the legacy and rich musical tradition of New Orleans. The exclusive “Spirit of New Orleans” Drum Camp will offer a limited number of students the chance to play with and learn from Stanton Moore in an ultra-intensive classroom setting. Each student will play on an individual practice drum kit allowing for an incredibly intense, educational experience that guarantees results.

All SONO camp packages also include discounted admission to evening performances including: Dragon Smoke at Tipitinas’s on Friday, December 13; The Stanton Moore Piano Trio (featuring David Torkanowsky and Jim Singleton), Saturday, December 14th at Snug Harbor and a private tour of the Old U.S. Mint’s “New Orleans Jazz” exhibit.

A lifelong resident of New Orleans, Stanton Moore is a highly respected drummer and authority on New Orleans’ musical history who has toured the world as a performer and educator, garnering accolades for his superb drumming skills, clinics and for his wildly popular “Groove Alchemy” book and DVD. In addition, Moore has released a number of educational products celebrating New Orleans drumming styles including the book Take it to the Street, as well as his DVD series “A Modern Approach to New Orleans Drumming” and “A Traditional Approach to New Orleans Drumming,” as well as the comprehensive beginner-to-advance book and DVD project, “A Fresh Approach to the Drum Set.” Moore is also the co-owner of Crescent Cymbals and regularly performs with Galactic as well as The Stanton Moore Trio and Dragon Smoke (featuring Ivan Neville), Leo Nocentelli (The Meters), the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Anders Osborne and many others.

Located at 400 Esplanade Street, The Old U.S. Mint is the only building in America to have served both as a United States and a Confederate Mint. Guests of Stanton Moore’s “Spirit of New Orleans” (SONO) Drum Camp will be given an exclusive tour of this historic building’s “New Orleans Jazz” exhibit featuring sheet music and instruments including Louis Armstrong’s first coronet and items from New Orleans’ jazz drumming legend Baby Dodds among other music memorabilia chronicling the history of Jazz from its humble beginnings on the streets of New Orleans. The new photography gallery portrays a new generation of New Orleans performers.

Public tickets to the December 15th Soul Rebel concert featuring Stanton Moore and the SONO camp will be available to the public. Tickets are $15.00 and doors open at 7:00.
