P!nk’s Drummer Jams With Locals

Australians have a similar approach to life as P!nk: they’re down to earth, straight-talking and call things how they see them, her drummer Mark Schulman says.

Schulman, along with bass player Eva Gardner, took some time out from the P!nk national tour to jam for some time with Australian College of the Arts students in Melbourne.

He says P!nk speaks to her audience much the same way as she chats with her band.

“Australians tend to be like no bullshit kind of straight up the middle, say it how it is kind of people,” Schulman says.

“That’s exactly the way she is, so I think that there is a level of relativity based on that because she is such a straight shooter, she is so honest and what you see is what you get.

“She is really authentic, a truly authentic woman, and she sings about what she believes in and she says what she feels.”

P!nk’s Melbourne performances at Rod Laver Arena are part of her 46-show The Truth About Love tour, which travels Brisbane next before heading to Sydney.

The staging is extravagant with trapdoors, multiple levels, stairs, several screens and a catwalk.

P!nk belts out hits including Raise Your Glass, Just Like A Pill, Leave Me Alone (I’m Lonely), Trouble, Just Give Me A Reason, and Blow Me (One Last Kiss).

Two of P!nk’s 18 Melbourne concerts will be recorded for release on DVD.
